I went to college because it was nothing else better that I can do at this time but further my education because I could not just go an apply for a job in any local stores I know due to my physical challenges I would face automatic employment discrimination. Why I went to college? I went to college because it was nothing else better that I can do. I wanted to be working but I could not just apply for any local stores due to my physical challenges I know that I would be automatically discriminated against..It's wrong..I know but these are society views and mind set..Its disappointing and advocates are seeking changes in employment discrimination. If I don't speak up through out my last year of high school they had plan on placing me in a day program due to my physical challenges which made me so afraid to grow within my self as a person. I fought with them including my agencies I said look I will accept nothing else but a supported employment or a college placement and getting me someone to work with..They were shock but I never give up and I won the fight..These days I do a lot of volunteering at agenices who work with people with disabilities hoping for a job position mostly at United Cereberal Palsy of NYC which I connected with in 2009 they became like my family and even my second home..Many of the workers are my mentor they are always there when I need them with in all these experiences I have endured I am a self advocate for myself and others, advocating has became my many focus and passion, I am in college for the exprenice to open the doors to further opportunities so now that I have found myself and I am in a happy state of mind and found something I really love I am looking forward to move on sooner then later to take different path with my education background I am looking into applying to the School of Professional Studies Graduate Certificate Program for disability studies, join NYU Poly tech and take a few courses in Public Relations.
I have it all plan out..time to take actions
