About Me

I was born on Long Island at the Nassau County Medical Center on August 17, 1987. I was born three months pre-mature. From the Nassau County Medical Center, I was transferred to the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City where my parents lived. I stayed in the hospital for three months, receiving round the clock medical care. My parents were able to visit twenty four hours a day. At three months I had barely reached the minimum five pound release weight. After I was released, my parents didn’t realize that my problems were just beginning. At nine months old I was taken to a specialist, who then told them that I had Cerebral Palsy. The doctors emphasized that my condition was a physical disability and not a mental disability. After finding this out my parents became depressed for several years. Then at the age of three my brother, Rory, was born, also premature and at age five my sister, Kelli, was born. I started Mary Cats Pre-School from age three to five. When I turned six, I went to kindergarten at Birch Wathen Lenox School and stayed there through sixth grade. At the end of the sixth grade my parents decided to move all of us to Westhampton. This was traumatic for me, because I had to leave all of my friends and make new ones. I started seventh grade at Westhampton Beach Middle School. There they addressed my special needs for classes, providing me with an inclusive support class and an aid to help with my physical disability. During high school, I made many friends and developed important relationships that I still maintain today.I am 26 years old now and I am currently working on my seconfd BA in psychlogy and speech comunication. After i finish this in December 2014, my plan is to give back to the disabled comuinity in as many ways as possible!!!!
